if im reading the phrasing right, which im probably not, the LSD tranny is sealed, meaning it does not need the fluid to be changed ever? i find that hard to believe. My car i just bought and it isnt a "G85" pkg but it does have an LSD dealer optioned added, i know this because the car still has the window sticker and i know to usually change the fluid at around 60k, and guess what i bought this car at,.... 60k Miles. ty if anyone answers.

i doubt that it will hurt to change it. gets rid of some of the trash floating around in there, and there can be moisture buildup if the car has been sitting for extended periods of time and started /stopped for short run times.
when changing fluid its entirely possible not to get all the fluid out, but its capacity is 1.8 litres according to GM.

I ONLY use GM fluid. works for me.

What happens if you use 2.2 fluid in the LSJ? I keep getting wicked grind going into R in the morning and I fear the dealer put the wrong fluid in when they did the clutch and axle seals.

The fluid that came out was brown. Smelled like the new stuff, though.

I replaced my tranny fluid in my IRL with Red-Line 75W-90 NS GL-5 Gear Oil, works ok.
I want to try the GM 75w-85 fluid before the winter and see if it makes a difference compared to the Redline stuff.

FWIW, I used up ~1.7L for my fluid exchange.

I just went looking for this stuff;
The Canadian part number does differ from the US part number;
US = 88862472
CND = 88862473

If any mod/admin sees this, it might be worth adding this tidbit tothe first post in this thread - especially since the F35/LNF trans fluid replaces/supercedes the F35/LSJ trans fluid.

I just replaced my Redline MT90 NS fluid with the AC Delco LNF Fluid (part of the CED transmission upgrade kit), and the shifting improved a bit. Small amount, but considering it's dipping to the low 30's here in Canadia now, I'm liking the better shifting when the engine/tranny are cold.

I would definitely recommend the Delco fluid over the Redline stuff for winter usage... can't comment on if the Redline MT90 NS would protect better in the summer though.

NP, I've already noticed a difference in better shifting this morning, it was down to around ~35f when I left for work.

Mine would be completely frozen under 25 degrees. After change it never froze up once.

So heres the question, my I went off of a walkthrough I downloaded on clutch replacement and I swear it just said "1 bottle of AC delco MTF with OEM part number" I ordered it ahead of time, now find out I need another and my car is tied up on the dealership lift (thankfully the dealership I work at). So I cant get another quart till end of day today which is going to not get the car finished until Saturday or even Monday (not sure if they will work on it Saturday).

The parts guys here say I can use a higher weight/vis fluid like 80/90 or 80/95 non syn. Thoughts? I want to stay OEM for sure but the timeframe is killing me.

Not to throw a wrench on this post.... but GM part number 88862472 according to Royal purple's recommendation pdf file dated 2014 claims that their XPR 5-30 oil is the substitute for this GM part number....

I know, I just opened a can or worms for a lot of people!

^I only run the GM fluid, so no skin off my back whether that info is correct or not.

I personally wouldnt try it.

You will regret it, there is no way that any 5-30 oil can be used, and not destroy your transmission.

This is why I'd never buy any of their overpriced garbage. 75w85 gl4, only two out there with the right additives (or lack thereof) are the GM and Redline stuff.

thats atf. the trans will fail. dont ask me why atf is good for the getrag 5 speed in the 2.2 and not the gm powertrain F35 but we see failed F35 with atf in them often

just went to GM to get trans fluid for my trans swap, got a LSD TC trans and they told me that the part number 88862472 wasnt in there system but when they looked up an 08 ss/tc the part number was 88862473, i dont know if they updated there oil or not. but looked it up and this is what it is, http://www.acdelcochemicalcatalogue....hp?prod_id=151

2 qts with the part number is $34 on Amazon and you can get overnight shipping for $7.99 if you have a prime membership. If you don't have prime membership sign up and try a free month and take advantage of it.

GM tried to tell me they only sell the fluid is small as milliliter bottles or something stupid and it was over $90 for 1.6 qts worth.

Him being in Canada will change those prices a bit.

Seems like I read something about the part numbers being different in Canada, but don't quote me on that.
